ABOUT
Wine O'Clock
We have been in the Wine business for over 25 years and it has been a great journey! Since we started in the business, wine has "democratised" – it is no longer the beverage of the elite. Wine is so much more accessible and Irish tastes have evolved to include a wide variety of styles and grape varietals sourced from all over the globe.
As our world becomes smaller with places and people more reachable, wine from small family producers is finding a wider audience. Before, this was the arena for large, homogeneous and bland wine brands. These small producers are often at the forefront of developing wines for the future – wines which are produced sustainably and organically, with respect for their local environment. These producers have a huge, vested interest in keeping their vineyards producing great wines. Therefore, they must take care of their land and farm with sustainable areas. They cannot simply move to another area. We respect these producers and enjoy showcasing their wines.
Our family-owned estates also experiment in the winery to develop their wines and adapt to changing tastes. In this case size matters – being small allows them to experiment. For instance, fermenting small parcels of fruit which come from specific parts of a vineyard or experimenting using local and natural yeasts.
We have the privilege to work with a number of these producers. Like us they are a family run business and share our passion for quality without the Bells and Whistles!
We developed Wine O'Clock to give you the opportunity to get to know these producers and taste their wines. We hope to take you beyond the label on a journey through vineyards and wineries across the world.
For each featured producer we will have: exclusive offers on great wines, easy to follow tasting notes from the wine maker and a explanation of how the wine is made. We will bring unique tastings with the wine makers, so come back and visit us, or sign up for alerts.
We hope that we can be part of your wine adventures..
